Panayiotis Micheal, Under Construction, 12 February 2003-1 March 2003

I formed certain spots, like flights of stairs and entrances which join together two spaces of two environments (the upstairs with the downstairs, the inside and the outside). I also made an inventory of lines which refers to plans, limits, and directions aiming at the ‘construction’ of a new reality.

The period of transition of a change from one situation to another, from one stage to the next – whether these act upon an individual of a socio-political level – is the fundamental issue that attracts me the most. I am concerned with our reactions or feelings generated by a change of space, place or way of life and the efforts of adjusting to the new, natural, spiritual, emotional, social, political or other environment. In these efforts of adjustment to new situations, human struggles to understand, adopt and assimilate the new set of facts. Plans are made, proposals and counter-proposals are suggested, directives and limits are set, which sometimes conflict, sometimes adjoin or intersect each other, or work in a parallel way, creating a plexus of uncertainty but also of euphoria.
